From October 19 to 27, 2024, Getafe Negro celebrates Chinese crime fiction in one of the essential events for lovers of the genre at national and international level.

Celebration of the XVII edition of Getafe Negro: a literary festival in evolution

14/10/2024

This 17th edition of the Getafe Negro Festival revives the concept of the Silk Road to build bridges between the Asian country and the Mediterranean with the aim of bringing the public closer to a great unknown: the Chinese crime novel. More than 50 activities will be offered, including round tables, meetings with authors, cinema, music and contests.

The event, curated from the beginning by Lorenzo Silva, with the addition of Maica Rivera to the management team since 2022, has continued to strengthen its quality and international character and has established itself as an essential reference both nationally and internationally for fans of detective literature and noir.

A diverse and enriching programme

The lineup of activities, including round tables, author meetings, cinema, music, and contests, showcases a commitment to inclusivity and cultural exchange. The addition of esteemed authors such as Ah Yi, He Jiahong, Na Duo, and Jun Tian further reinforces the festival’s international appeal and its dedication to promoting diverse literary talents.

An international literary experience

In addition, the festival’s recognition of cultural milestones, such as the 30th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death and the 15th anniversary of ‘The Blair Witch Project,’ adds a thoughtful and reflective dimension to the program.

Participation and digital visibility

So that all festival fans have access to the programming, information will be provided both through the official website and the event’s social networks. This attitude has been key to consolidating the festival as a benchmark both in the promotion of literature in the genre and in the growth and expansion of its audience.

The Getafe-based festival for all noir lovers also has a special programme on platforms, YouTube, social networks and the web.
