Doors open for La Mercè in Espai Bombers

The Espai Bombers – Park of Prevention of Barcelona will participate this year during the weekend of September 22 to 24 at the La Mercè festivities, patron saint of the city. This celebration will have open days where access to the center will be free during its regular opening hours.

The Espai Bombers, inaugurated in November 2016, is a museum space that highlights the history of the Fire Department of Barcelona through the exhibition of its heritage and its 180-year relationship with the city, as well as a center formative and informative dedicated to prevention and self-protection.

As a novelty this year will be offered free activities where visitors can enjoy the guided tour and the workshop energized during the weekend. The guided tour will take visitors through the history of firefighters in the city of Barcelona and the creation of the Fire Department as we know it; In addition to presenting us the building where it is housed: the old Poble-sec barracks, the first fire station of the country built expressly as such, and renovated and rehabilitated for its new use, the Espai Bombers.
